Oct Update

Hello United South Central Families,

We are now past mid-quarter and well into the 2024-25 school year. We are officially 26 days into the 2024-2025 school year, homecoming week has come and gone, and we have just 17 days remaining in the 1st quarter. It has been a great start to the school year and we are thankful to our extraordinary students, staff, parents, and community for making the first quarter of the school year successful.

Strategic Planning Process - We are in the process of finalizing our strategic plan and looking forward to moving ahead with our collaborative goals for United South Central’s future. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the many people who have been part of this process, as well as to everyone who participated in the student, staff, parent, and community survey process over the past spring/summer. Our school board will begin the work of finalizing this process over the fall, and this work will come to fruition with our completed strategic plan in early 2025.

Virtual Learning/Snow Day Preparation - We’re hoping we won’t see much snowfall anytime soon, but it’s a good idea to start thinking about our Virtual Learning plans for when winter does hit. We have a few extra student days built into the calendar, and we may opt to utilize a β€œregular snow day” early this winter if needed, before switching to virtual learning days when we can’t hold classes in person. We’ll do our best to give you as much notice as possible before a Virtual Learning Day is called so students have time to get ready and gather what they need. Please think about what your student(s) might require to be successful while learning from home. If your family needs internet access for Virtual Learning, we have a limited number of internet hot spots available for checkout. Please reach out if you have any questions about this.

Activities Supervision - We are excited to see the energy that students attending our events and activities bring to USC during the fall and winter seasons. To ensure the safety of all individuals at our events we respectfully ask that parents directly supervise their elementary-aged children (6th grade and under) who are attending events at USC. Please keep in mind that events and activities are not supervised by school staff in the same manner that students are supervised during the school day. If we do encounter students who are not properly supervised during after-school events, we may dismiss these individuals and ask families to come pick them up from the school.
