As United South Central concludes 11 years in our current school building, continued enrollment growth has brought us to the limits of our available space. In response, a Facilities Task Force, comprised of representatives from all six USC communities, along with staff and student voices, has been meeting since January to explore solutions.
Following a tour of our school building, a detailed review of current space usage, and an in-depth study of six potential plans, the task force presented its recommendation to the USC School Board on April 15, at its regular meeting held in Bricelyn. After their analysis, this group recommended that the board consider a plan that includes the addition of 10 classrooms and a medium-sized gymnasium space.
Whatβs next? The school board will consider approval of this recommendation at their regularly scheduled meeting in May (Tuesday, May 20th). From there, the school board will begin interviewing facilities consulting firms in early June to guide the next phase of the process, which includes planning, design, and potential referendum options.

We will aim to do our best to keep our community informed and engaged as we move forward together.
